More than half a million babies are born prematurely each year in the United States. That's almost 1,400 per day.
13 babies die every day from complications related to pre-term birth.
Premature babies who survive could face a lifetime of health issues such as chronic lung disease or vision and hearing loss.
The average medical cost for a full-term baby is $3,325, compared with $32,325 for a baby born prematurely.
1 in 8 babies is born prematurely.
Premature birth is the leading cause of death in the first month of life.
